hierro (gabe ibánez)

i felt rather disappointed, to be honest. i loved the photography and the direction, beautiful and atmospheric, but the actual story was way too predictable. there was almost no room for doubt, everything was so obvious. things would have been different if, when she first thinks she sees her son on that beach, the kid hadn't looked back and not recognised his mom. but, after that, it was obvious it wasn't him. and i found the final shots reconstructing all the previous scenes but with the different kid really obnoxious, treating the viewers as if they are stupid and need everything to be spelt out for them. i would have left some room for ambiguity. i'm giving it more than a 5 just because of how beautiful it looks.
